Conquer the Peaks with Smiley Monroe: Jim Simmons Shares His Journey! 

Our adventurous Smiley Monroe team gears up to take on the epic 7 Peaks Challenge in the stunning Mourne Mountains this month in partnership with Cancer Focus NI.

We sat down with Jim, our head of Quality, to get the inside scoop on his motivation and preparations for this year's climb compared to last year. 

📢Question: What motivated you to take on this challenge for a second time? 

💬 Jim's Answer: “The banter during last year's event from training through to completion on the day. Also, I have lost some close family members to cancer so the charity is very close to my heart”. 

📢 Question: As you prepare for the climb, what changes or improvements have you made in your training compared to last year? 

💬 Jim's Answer: “Less training this year but hey we’re athletes 😂” 

📢 Question: How much of a challenge was last year?  

💬 Jim's Answer: “Mentally last year was very challenging. I was ready to ‘bug out’ at the halfway point after 5 peaks as I had just made my way through the ‘bog’ to Ben Crom dam. Let’s say some motivational talk from the guys and a clean dry pair of socks soon changed that.” 

📢 Question: Climbing the 7 peaks of the Mourne Mountains is an incredible feat. Reflecting on last year's achievement, what are you most looking forward to this year? 

💬 Jim's Answer: “Looking forward to seeing the guys completing the 7 peaks for the first time this year 😁 Oh beer and burgers are always good at finish lol”.
