Smiley Monroe Announces Charity Football Match

Making a difference - One goal at a time!

Smiley Monroe, Club Sponsor, and Lisburn Distillery Football Club are delighted to announce a Charity Football Match and Family Fun Day fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Kick Off!

The Charity Football Match between Smiley Monroe and the Whites will kick off at 12 noon on Sunday 8th May at Lisburn Distillery’s New Grosvenor Stadium and everyone is welcome to come along to show their support and enjoy the craic.

Events will get underway before that however with various fun activities being organised for all the family; food and refreshments will be on sale, with the proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care. A pre-match penalty shoot-out for kids and big kids alike (adults) has been organised for 11am and in the afternoon there will be a raffle to round off the day. There will be a range of great prizes, including football memorabilia within which there will be a framed Liverpool shirt signed by Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.

Tim Monroe, Smiley Monroe’s Marketing Manager, said; “Marie Curie Cancer Care do incredible work and we’re asking our staff, friends and the Lisburn community, including our customers, suppliers and other local businesses, to get behind our fundraising effort. We don’t really fancy our chances against the Whites, who are still on cloud nine after winning the Co-operative Insurance Cup, but we hope Tommy Wright’s men will go on easy on us! After all, it’s for a good cause. It should be a lot of fun and Smiley Monroe has pledged to match every £1 donated.

Lisburn Distillery manager Tommy Wright will have his side up for the cause. “It’s been a long hard, but ultimately rewarding season for the club and it will be great to end the season with a fun-filled day to raise money for a very worthy cause in Marie Curie Cancer Care. It’s an ideal opportunity to help them support others when they need that help most and we look forward to the day and raising as much as we can” said the Whites’ boss.
